Book: ‘Andy Warhol Treasures’

It would have to be one of the most carefully collated and beautifully bound books on the life and works of Andy Warhol. One part artist biography, one part catalogue, and one part time-capsule, ‘Andy Warhol Treasures’ contains plenty of pop paraphernalia, from examples of his early commercial drawings and templates of layouts for ‘Interview’ magazine, through source materials and descriptions of his infamous screen prints, to a copy of his very last cab receipt (Warhol was a major hoarder of everything including dockets as evidence for the tax department). The man who predicted that “in the future everyone will be famous for 15 minutes” (proof: instant celebrity via reality TV, Twitter and the internet) made certain that after his death, his flame would not extinguish easily. Just about everybody who came into contact with Warhol is referenced in this book, and it is brimming with tidbits and imagery that even the most ardent follower will find refreshing and fascinating.

‘Andy Warhol Treasures’ is published by Carlton and distributed by Bookwise International, RRP $75.00 and available in all good book stores.
