Splendour’s massive lineup and splendid solution to traffic issues

We really would like to know how those good folk at Splendour In The Grass manage to pull off the feat of bringing the world’s biggest music acts in the one park? Just to lay a few down for you, we’ve got Coldplay (pictured), Kanye West, Jane’s Addiction, The Hives, Living End, Regina Spektor, Pnau, Kele, and Architecture In Helsinki all congregating in the one place to put on a, well, splendid show. With 81 acts spanning the entire musical spectrum, the new layouts and workshops, or the revised traffic plans to rid us of Woodstock-like jams, we’re very much looking forward to this year’s festival.

Last year, at the new location of Woodfordia, punters were left hung over as buggery in a traffic jam that inched forward an hour at a time. This year, borrowing strategies from international festivals, a ‘car pass’ system will be implemented that promotes car pooling and a speedy return to reality. On the topic of Woodfordia, don’t get too comfortable with your knowledge of the ethereal land, as there will be new bars (Bar New Orleans), new workshops (Splendid Arts Program) and of course new exploration routes to get lost in.

Splendour In The Grass could well be Australia’s answer to Coachella in the US, as no festival down under draws as many big guns, let alone impressive debut performances. Tickets go on sale 9am sharp on May 5th. Sell a kidney if you have to.
