Art and culture: it’s all relative

Since 1973, every two years in Sydney has been marked by twelve weeks of what is one of the longest running visual arts shows in the world. The Biennale of Sydney, renowned for being continuously ground-breaking, offers a unique platform to visual artists to showcase their artistic endeavors. The next showcase has just been announced to take place from June 27 to September 16, 2012. The theme? ‘All our relations’. The exhibition’s artistic directors are hoping 2012’s artists will interpret the theme in a way that allows for more audience involvement in the works. It may seem a simple enough task, but we’re sure all the artists involved are already wearing a groove into the floor of their studios, fretting over how they can set themselves apart from the rest… We look forward to ‘being part’ of their work. Definitely an early entry into your must-do list for next year.

The Biennale of Sydney will be hosted at The Art Gallery Of New South Wales, the Museum Of Contemporary Art, Pier 2 and 3, and on Cockatoo Island. Various other venues to be announced. More information at www.biennaleofsydney.com.au.
