An anniversary to pencil in the diary

Founded as a pencil factory in Stein, Germany in 1761, Faber-Castell is a name well aligned with creativity. The countless times you would have seen it on the side of a coloured pencil (or indeed black-lead pencil) throughout your early schooling years would ensure it stuck in your mind years later along with fond, colourful memories. The company responsible for introducing the original hexagonal pencil in 1839 – in order to avoid the nuisance of rolling – and who shift over two billion pencils each year around the world this year celebrates its 250th Anniversary. As an eighth-generation member of a rather industrious family, Count Anton Wolfgang Graf von Faber-Castell will pay visit to Australia in November to spread the celebratory word. Bet he loved writing that magnificent name at the top of his many school assignments…
