Australian photographer Rennie Ellis created controversy everywhere he went in his adult life up until his passing in 2003. Kind of like the Guy Bourdin of Down Under, his photographs were of an entertaining, erotic sort, often taken with such soft focus you’d think they were stills from porn. He was once invited to the White House but also thrown out of the Moulin Rouge, so radical was the guy’s nature. An exhibition of Ellis’ photography is on at the Mossgreen Gallery in Melbourne from February 11 to March 3. Don’t bring your Nanna.

The Mossgreen Gallery is situated 310 Toorak Road, South Yarra.
