Facebookers get to vote to have their city see the new ‘Paranormal Activity’ first

Okay Paranormal Activity fans and followers, if you happen to have a copy of the official Australian DVD release of the movie, check out the pull-quote on the sleeve and you’ll see that it has come from yours truly, Cream. Yep, we gave the original flick an official stamp of approval and the film’s distributors decided to stamp the film with our seal of approval over all other horror-loving ‘zine’s praises.

Since then, we can’t say we were terribly happy with the second film in the franchise, and to be honest we’ve not even seen the third, but we are here to announce that Paranormal Activity 4 will be out soon, and that the promotional people behind it have been very clever in asking fans to vote via Facebook on which city deserves to see the film first. Via Facebook, punters can vote to have an advance screening in their city by simply clicking on the ‘Want It’ button on the film’s fan page here.

The application recognises a fan’s geo-location according to their Facebook profile and automatically registers a vote to bring the film to their city first. Votes will be shared on a fan’s page and news-feed to rally their peers to bring the flick to that city first, too.

Once all the tallying has been done, the top 25 cities around the globe whose Facebook users have voted to see the film first will indeed, well, be the first places in the world to receive the celluloid in cinemas first, with a free screening of the it before it hits theatres officially on October 18.

“There’s a very special connection between Paranormal Activity 4 and Facebook,” said Matt Jacobson, head of market development at the social networking site. “Four years after the initial success of the franchise and the establishment of a passionate fan community, we’re excited to see continued iteration on a franchise that was born on [our site].”

Fans can also vote at the film’s website www.paranormalactivitymovie.com.au .

Get to it, then, horror lovers.
