Perth-born Samantha Jade has won this year’s X Factor, beating off competition from runner-up Jason Owen and third-placed act, The Collective. Despite being in the bottom two more times than any other contestant, Jade has been a judges’ favourite and ultimately made it through to the Grand Final.

On being declared the winner, Samantha said, “I’m so overwhelmed and so delighted to be here and never thought I would win. I’ve had the most amazing experience on The X Factor and loved every minute of it.”

The winner’s mentor, Guy Sebastian, was over-the-moon to see his friend and contestant win, saying “she’s been through so much to try and make it in the music industry and I’m so thrilled she’s had this opportunity.”

Samantha wins a recording contract with Sony Music and a management deal. Her winning single What You’ve Done To Me is available digitally on iTunes from tonight.

Samantha Jade’s debut self-titled album will be released through Sony Music December 7.
