Cricket finally gets a style makeover

Footy has its WAGS in short dresses (albeit with g-strings poking out of them). Swimming has its swag of studs stripping for gay magazines. And rugby has its sexy calendars. But cricket has never been portrayed as a spunky sport… until now.

This month, Cricket Australia employed an army of fashion stylists to give its guys and girls a makeover, working toward the finished product of a media kit that features various players that will help drive the Southern Stars and ICC World Twenty20 Champions (hopefully) to further world-beating success.

Fashion photographer Adrian Mesko together with Vogue Australia Junior Fashion Editor Ilona Hamer and their team of hair and makeup artists have turned our boys and girls usually clad in white (with occasional red stain around the crotch) into impressive fashionistas.

Titled A Perfect Mix, the cricket-goes-fashion look-book showcases some new male players on on the pitch including Ed Cowan, Pat Cummins and James Pattinson, and features some of female cricket’s most recognisable faces – including Captain Jodie Fields, Ellyse Perry and Alex Blackwell.

What next, the Socceroos start taking up yoga? Oh, they already have…
