Stars come out for Supanova

Look, up in the sky! Is it a bird? A plane? No, it’s Supanova, and it’s a phenomenal expo heading to Sydney and Perth this June.

Supanova is a celebration of pop culture, packed full of television and filmic geekery, gaming and gadgetry, collectables, comic books and much, much more. Now, after months of planning, the first array of guests can be revealed with the following Supa-star celebrities booked in to attend the June events.

First up is actor, author, scriptwriter and script doctor, Carrie Fisher. You might otherwise know her as Princess Leia in Star Wars. And now that Disney has acquired the Star Wars rights, Fisher is strongly rumoured to be reprising her regal role, 30 years after Return Of The Jedi closed the trilogy.

Next up is one David Hasselhoff who needs no introduction but – just in case you’ve had your head in the sand (beach sand, geddit?) – he played Baywatch’s main dude Mitch, as well as the lead in ’80s fast-car series Knight Rider.

Also on the confirmation list are Karl Urban, who played Doctor McCoy in Star Trek: Into Darkness (as well as having starred in Dredd), Margot Kidder (Lois Lane to Christopher Reeve’s classic Superman), Clare Kramer (Glory from Buffy The Vampire Slayer, Oliver and James Phelps (Harry Potter’s allies, the cheerfully cheeky Weasley twins), and Adam Brown, Jed Brophy and Aidan Turner, who played Tolkein dwarves in The Hobbit.

If that’s not enough fantasy and sci-fi variety for you, there’s also a host of animé and voice favourites attending, including Lauren Tom (Amy Wong from Futurama), Greg Cipes (voice actor from Ben-10), Christina Vee (Tekken: Blood Vengeance), and Christine Cabanos (animé favourite Madoka Magika).

Supanova guests will be meeting fans, giving behind-the-scenes talks, posing for portraits, and signing autographs. Plus there’ll be plenty of previews and screenings, gaming demonstrations, competitions and even the spectacle of AWF Wrestling.
