World’s richest DJs revealed
Normally, when Forbes magazine analyses the world’s richest entertainers, it points to actors and musicians. Perhaps in the name of keeping on trend, Forbes now reveals its richest DJs list.
Annual earnings were gathered looking at income from gigs, record sales, endorsements, merchandise and various ‘side’ projects (makes you wonder, knowing some of the DJs we know).
Coming in at number is forthcoming Stereosonic headliner Calvin Harris who played over 100 gigs last year with an average performance fee of $200,000 a pop. Calvin earned $46 million last year alone.
Rounding out the Top 5 consecutively were Dutch DJ Tiësto, French disc-spinner David Guetta, Swedish House Mafia, and the kooky Mickey-Mouse-ear-wearing Deadmau5.
Avicii came in at number 6, pocketing $20million, and dubstep DJ Skrillex at number 9 scoring $16million.
All in all, the top earning DJs pull in around $268 million in the last 12 months.
So if you’re wanting a career in DJ-ing, now you can convince your Mum that the money is actually alright!
