The Most Played Songs On Radio in 2013

So which song was the most played on radio in 2013? No, it wasn’t a tune by Pink, Avicii or Bruno Mars. Not even one by darling-of-the-moment, Lorde. Not Daft Punk’s ‘Get Lucky’. And not a Macklemore & Ryan Lewis track.

Indeed it was Perth band Birds Of Tokyo and their hit Lanterns that was spun the most number of times on the airwaves this year, with 17,419 rotations in total on commercial stations across the country.
There is no arguing that the likes of Daft Punk’s Get Lucky and Lorde’s Royals have been hugely popular this year, but these have been songs played more on digital channels (ie: Spotify, Radionomy, etc).

Birds Of Tokyo, naturally, topped the most-played Australian singles, too. Here is that Aussie Top Ten…

  1. Birds Of Tokyo – ‘Lanterns’ (17,419)
  2. Vance Joy – ‘Riptide’ (13,417)
  3. Stafford Brothers feat Lil Wayne & Christina Milian – ‘Hello’ (12,733)
  4. Sheppard – ‘Let Me Down Easy’ (10,429)
  5. Matt Corby – ‘Resolution’ (8998)
  6. Flume – ‘Holdin’ On’ (7529)
  7. Timomatic – ‘Parachute’ (7326)
  8. Nathaniel Willemse – ‘You’ (7102)
  9. Samantha Jade – ‘What You’ve Done To Me’ (6995)
  10. Jessica Mauboy – ‘Pop A Bottle’ (6942)
