Designer, stylist (and Mick Jagger’s girlfriend) L’Wren Scott found dead from apparent suicide
Fashion designer, celebrity stylist, model and girlfriend of rock icon Mick Jagger, L’Wren Scott, has been found dead in her Manhattan apartment, from an apparent suicide. Unconfirmed reports suggest that Scott hung herself.
Scott’s assistant found her deceased body at 10am yesterday morning [10pm AWST] during which Jagger and his band, the Rolling Stones, were dining in Coco’s Restaurant, South Perth.
It is said that an aid of Jagger’s pulled over to the side of the restaurant, ran in abruptly and broke up the party to tell Jagger the news, upon which the devastated singer and his band exited the restaurant immediately.
L’Wren Scott (real name Luann Bambrough) was an adopted child to Mormon parents, raised in Utah, USA. Known for her tall frame (1.9 metres), she began her work in the fashion industry as a model, then founded her own label which quickly grew popular with celebrities. Her clients have included Nicole Kidman, Oprah Winfrey, Angelina Jolie, and Madonna. Scott had been dating Jagger since 2001.
Said a distraught Madonna, “This is a horrible and tragic loss. I’m so upset. I loved L’Wren’s work and she was always so generous with me.”
It is believed L’Wren was facing financial difficulties, owing millions to creditors. Reports and statements from business colleagues suggest that the mounting debts had contributed to a certain depression that lead to her suicide.
The Rolling Stones are due to make an announcement at 12pm today regarding the pending cancellation of any or all of the dates of their Australian tour.
