Before Divinyls singer Chrissie Amphlett passed away from breast cancer a year ago, she said she hoped her song ‘I Touch Myself’ would become a reminder for women to get regular breast checkups, highlighting the importance of early cancer detection.
Now, 10 of the brilliant singer’s industry peers have banded together to cover that very song, delivering a stunning rendition which is available on iTunes.
Lending their superb vocals to the song are Megan Washington, Sarah McLeod, Katie Noonan, Sarah Blasko, Suze DeMarchi (of Baby Animals fame), Deborah Conway, Kate Ceberano, Connie Mitchell (of Sneaky Sound System), Olivia Newton-John and even Chrissie’s Aunty, Little Pattie (you might remember she covered the song ‘Shout!’ several decades back).
With all that talent on board, you can bet you’ll be impressed by this new version of a very classic Australian track. Hear it here.
The campaign is supported by a website: itouchmyself.org and a social media campaign that encourages people to share how they’ve been touched by breast cancer using the hashtag #itouchmyselfproject onTwitter, Instagram, Facebook & Google+.
