The latest incarnation of Doctor Who, Peter Capaldi, will be touring the world in August, accompanied by his onscreen companion Jenna Coleman (Clara Oswald) in the name of promoting the new series to international fans and media.

Organised by BBC Worldwide, ‘Doctor Who: The World Tour’will kick off in Cardiff, Wales on August 7, before heading to London, Seoul, Sydney, New York, Mexico City, and finishing in Rio de Janeiro on August 19.

A fan event is to be held in Sydney with no date or other information available as of yet, but updates are promised via the weblink www.doctorwho.tv/worldtour. Meanwhile, as part of a clever marketing campaign, an image of the Doctor’s TARDIS (read: flying phone box) has been photoshopped spotted, looking like heading toward the Sydney Harbour Bridge.

Says Capaldi, the 12th actor to fill the good Doctor’s shoes, “It’s fantastic that so many people across the world love Doctor Who. After eight months’ solid filming deep in the world of monsters, Jenna and I are thrilled to be heading for the Planet of Fans.”

‘Doctor Who: Series 8’ will premiere in Australia in August on ABC1.
