There’s been a lot of hype surrounding DC Comics’ forthcoming release Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, with social media in a flurry over how best the film ought to be teased and promoted.

Competitions are being hosted around the world wide web, asking illustrators and graphic aesthetes to come up with their take on an “ideal poster” for a teaser campaign.

While we saw plenty of old-school superhero posturing and shiny-shiny logos bleeding into one another, the posters that got us really excited look as though they’ve been snuck in by the producers themselves. They’re. That. Darn. Good.

In what are made to look like urban promo material hacked by opposing teams – Superman’s eyes scratched out to reveal a pair of bat-wings; Batman’s mask damaged by a bloody red ‘S’ – this is what you’d call sheer deconstructive art. Movie marketing at its mashup best.  Antonino Tati

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is due for release May 5, 2016. It will be followed by Justice League Part 1, scheduled for a November 17, 2017 release – just to confuse you even more-so.
