A Magical White Christmas in Perth

It is that time of year again; time to help the kids get their letters to Santa ready and join in on the Christmas festivities. If in Perth, a great way to kickstart the festive spirit is to take the family to Santa’s Magical Kingdom under the Pyramid at Crown.

This year there are more adult rides that might suit the older kids, although I must admit, one of us adults were utterly petrified! Then of course, there’s the usual carnival fare: merry-go-round, sideshow alley, fast food, you know the drill.

Santa's Magical Kingdom Mrs Claus

There is, of course, the wonderful Mrs Claus who is oh-so patient in greeting everyone with a big smile, ready for a selfie or two, and a little festive jig with the kids. There’s the obligatory photo booth with Santa, where you’ll receive high quality beautiful photos to treasure as a memento of your visit.

There’s even a dedicated letter writing station for kids who want to get their message to Santa (we actually snuck our letters through Mrs Claus – it pays to know people in high places).

When we visited recently, my little one wrote a letter to Santa and I was so impressed to find a letter in response in the mail yesterday and she loved it!

But the highlight this year is the new stage show under the big top – an impressive affair of a giant globe cage where a courageous trio of motorcycle artists use their wheels in a dangerous configuration of crossovers and circles weaving skilfully and making for a spectacular stage show.

For the littlies there are cute doggies in tutus performing tricks and some fun stage acrobatics, all framed by eye-catching colourful giant Christmas decorations and lighting.

You even get the chance to decorate your own ginger bread man. Yum! And walk through serene and beautiful winter wonderland with falling snow.

’Tis indeed the season to be jolly, so for the full ‘White Christmas’ experience, step into Santa’s Magical Kingdom. Like I said, it’s just as much fun for the big kids as it is for the little ’uns.  Annette McCubbin

Santa’s Magical Kingdom at Crown is on until December 23, 2017.
