Peanuts For The Soul @2x

Peanuts have been entertaining readers for well over 65 years, leaving smiles on the faces of readers of all generations. It’s a comic series that has stood the test of time, its ethos appropriate even in today’s twisted social and political climate.

In fact, today, Charlie Brown, Lucy, Linus and of course Snoopy appear in over 2,200 newspapers, in 75 countries, and 21 languages around the world, their faces also having been stamped on everything from coffee mugs to clothing, stationery to linen. Come to think of it, Peanuts has been visible in virtually every retail channel.

But publishing is where the comic strip was originally at, and where it remains the most popular.

Just released is the cutest pocketbook that makes for a great Christmas stocking stuffer. Titled Peanuts For The Soul, this mini compendium sees our beloved Peanuts characters facing life’s many challenges, namely love and the occasional fallout from it, the maintenance of long-term friendship, and the chase for true happiness.

Divided up into seven chapters, the book makes for happy reading in one sitting but is as pertinent to keep on the bookshelf as that classic from which it gets its title inspiration from, Chicken Soup For The Soul.

Who needs stuffy old self-help books when you have Charles M. Schulz and his forthright, opinion-offering Peanuts gang to guide you through life?  Antonino Tati

‘Peanuts For The Soul’ is published by Allen & Unwin Canongate, RRP $19.99.
