Modern ‘philosopher’ Kanye West wants to write a book criticising vanity… like, yeah right

Dissonance and hypocrisy must run rife in the Kardashian-West household. Just as news hits every blog and website about sister-in-law Khloe Kardashian’s newborn baby (which we’re sure Aunty Kim will be posting plenty of selfies with), Kanye West has announced that he wants to write a philosophy book that criticises today’s photo-obsessed generation.

In an interview with designer Axel Verboodt for The Hollywood Reporter, West said he’s keen to write about a “new concept” that he’s been “diggin’ into” about how human beings are obsessed with photographs and how this obsession overtakes people (just ask his wife).

“People dwell too much in the memories,” said West. “People always wanna hear the history of something, which is important, but I think there’s too much of an importance put on history.”

West also shared his philosophical musings on time, saying “I do believe that all time is now. The future is here now [and] the past is here now. There’s certain people that you meet and you say, ‘Oh, you’re from the future’. You feel their spirit, people who are just staying in a time where the time doesn’t celebrate who they are, and there’s other people right now who the time does celebrate, and those people end up more famous or notorious.”

We’re not exactly sure what the fuck he’s on about but (A) perhaps he should start cleaning up the vanity issues in his own household before preaching about photographic obsession to the rest of the world, and (B) let’s cut to the chase, this actually has nothing do with society’s obsession with photography here and now; Kanye just wants photographic history to be erased so that we lack evidence of him being an absolute knob all those times on stage, screen and in internet interviews.  Lisa Andrews & Antonino Tati
